Matt Whitt focuses on commercial real estate law, with a significant emphasis on the corporate side of real estate. He possesses a deep understanding of legal principles, risk, contract negotiation and drafting, and deal structuring, allowing him to effectively navigate complex transactions and ensure successful outcomes.
Matt’s experience pairs the legal and the operational. He has worked with some of the largest multi-national law firms in the world, as well as served as general counsel and chief operations officer at start-up companies in commercial real estate, technology, and staffing.
In addition to his legal expertise, Matt has successfully started and operated his own small commercial real estate development company, in which capacity he sourced, acquired, and then managed the complete ground-up redevelopment of several sites in Austin, Texas. These projects also included post-development marketing, disposition, leasing and post-lease tenant management.
This business experience gives Matt a unique perspective and approach in his work with the Firm’s clients; a practical understanding that is often lacking in the legal world. Like his colleagues at Kruger Carson, Matt knows how to manage risk, give pragmatic advice, and close a deal.
As a graduate of Vanderbilt University and The University of Texas School of Law, Matt enjoys following SEC sports in his free time, and often participates in the Texas Water Safari (the “world’s toughest canoe race”) each June, when time allows. A deal junkie, he is always happiest talking shop with clients and other real estate curious folks.
